Introduction

Welcome to TrakCit AI

TrakCit AI is a free, all-in-one smart learning platform designed to turn online video content into an organized, distraction-free university. Instead of getting trapped in endless YouTube recommendations, comments, and sidebars, TrakCit gives you a structured learning haven where you can build curriculums, organize lecture roadmaps, resume right where you left off, and study with personalized AI tools.

The Story Behind the Name: TrakCit AI

The name TrakCit was coined by project architect Majid Qurashi to represent the foundational pillars of the platform:

TRAK = Precision Tracking

Accurately tracking your study hours, completed lectures, progress percentages, and daily learning streaks.

CIT = Course, Integration & Tracking

Seamlessly integrating YouTube playlists into structured courses with citations, transcripts, and AI-driven recall.

Platform Motto:"Less scrolling, more learning: Track it, Master it."

Step-by-Step

Getting Started: Account & Dashboard

1Step 1: Create an Account

Signing Up & Signing In

Click Get Started Free or Sign Up on the top navigation. Authentication is managed by Clerk with encrypted session tokens. You can register using your Google account or any valid email address. Once signed in, you will be redirected straight to your private learning dashboard.

2Step 2: Explore Your Dashboard

What You See After Logging In

Your dashboard is your daily study control center:

  • Total Watch Time: Shows the exact cumulative study time you have invested in video lectures.
  • Completed Lectures: A live counter of finished lectures across all your courses.
  • Active Learning Streak: Tracks how many consecutive days you have studied on TrakCit.
  • Quick Actions: One-click shortcuts to Create Course, Explore Ready-Made Workspaces, and Launch Study Planner.
3Step 3: Create Your First Workspace

Setting Up Your Study Container

Think of a workspace as a dedicated digital binder or subject folder. Instead of having dozens of unrelated videos mixed together, you group related courses into workspaces:

Example 1: GATE 2027Contains Engineering Math, Data Structures, Operating Systems.
Example 2: College Semester 5Contains Database Systems, Microprocessors, Computer Networks.
Example 3: Web DevelopmentContains JavaScript Mastery, React, Node.js, Next.js.
Organization

Workspaces: The Core Organizing System

A Workspace is a high-level container that bundles multiple related courses, playlists, and study tracks into a clean, unified curriculum.

Automatic Duration Rollup

Whenever you add a playlist or video to a workspace, TrakCit automatically calculates the total watch time (in hours and minutes) across all courses in that workspace. You immediately know exactly how long the entire curriculum is.

Workspace Progress Bar

The workspace displays an aggregate completion percentage. As you complete lectures in individual courses, the workspace progress bar advances proportionally.

How to Create and Customize a Workspace:

  1. Navigate to Workspaces in your dashboard navigation (`/dashboard/workspaces`).
  2. Click the New Workspace button.
  3. Give it a descriptive name (e.g. Computer Science Core or Civil Engineering Basics).
  4. Pick a distinctive accent color and icon so you can recognize it instantly at a glance.
  5. Add an optional description outlining your study goal or target exam date.
  6. Click Create Workspace. Your workspace is ready to receive courses!
Curated Roadmaps

Ready-Made Workspaces: 1-Click Curriculums

Don't want to spend hours searching YouTube to assemble playlists yourself? TrakCit AI includes a dedicated Suggested For You directory (`/dashboard/suggested`) featuring personalized recommendations and pre-built, battle-tested learning collections for competitive examinations and university tracks.

How Ready-Made Import Works:

Suggested For You → Preview Roadmaps → Click "Add to My TrakCit"

Important: When you add a Ready-Made Workspace, TrakCit creates your own private, independent copy in your account. Your watch time, video resume positions, and quiz scores belong strictly to you and do not affect other users.

Internal Search

Search YouTube Inside TrakCit

You never have to open YouTube in another tab and risk getting distracted by recommendation algorithms. TrakCit features a built-in Course Discovery Hub (`/dashboard/courses/new`) powered by official YouTube search integration.

How to Search and Add Content:

1
Open Course Hub: Click Create Course from your dashboard or courses page.
2
Type Your Topic: Enter any subject, exam topic, or channel name (e.g. "Operating Systems NPTEL", "Python for Beginners", "Abdul Bari Algorithms").
3
Filter Results: Use the convenient filter tabs: All, Playlists, Videos, or Channels to narrow down your search.
4
Preview Inside TrakCit: Click Preview on any playlist or video. A popup modal opens allowing you to inspect the video list, lecture titles, and duration before adding it.
5
Assign to Workspace: Choose which workspace this course belongs to and click Import / Add Course.
Recent Searches are remembered on your device so you can re-run your frequent study searches with a single tap.
Standalone Content

Add a Single YouTube Video

Sometimes you just need to study a 2-hour masterclass, a crash course, or a single recorded lecture without importing a whole 50-video playlist. TrakCit fully supports single video courses.

How to Add a Single Video:

  1. Find any educational YouTube video link (or search via the Video tab in Course Hub).
  2. Go to the Paste URL tab in Course Hub (`/dashboard/courses/new?tab=url`).
  3. Paste the video link and select your workspace.
  4. Click Import Video. TrakCit creates a dedicated course for it.

What You Get:

  • Auto-resume & watched-time tracking
  • Focus Mode ('F' key)
  • Instant AI Summaries & Flashcards
  • Grounded AI Mentor Q&A
Certificate Rule for Single Videos: Because a single-video course has only one lecture, you must watch 100% of the video to unlock its course completion certificate.
Curriculum Generation

Import a Complete YouTube Playlist

TrakCit's most powerful course feature is Automated Playlist Parsing. Instead of manually creating 40 or 80 lectures one by one, TrakCit reads the YouTube playlist in seconds.

What Happens When You Import a Playlist:

1. Sequential OrderingEvery lecture is numbered chronologically from Lecture #1 to the end.
2. Exact Duration ExtractionSeconds, minutes, and total course hours are automatically calculated.
3. Individual Progress HooksEach lecture receives its own independent resume position and completion checkbox.
4. AI Resource GenerationEvery lecture is ready for automatic transcript fetching, summaries, and quizzes.
Study Player

Distraction-Free Video Learning & Auto-Resume

TrakCit replaces the noisy YouTube watch page with an ultra-clean, student-first learning interface designed for deep focus.

Focus Mode

Press the 'F' key on your keyboard anytime while on a lecture page to enter Focus Mode. All headers, sidebars, and navigation fade away, leaving only your video lecture and essential study notes. Press 'Esc' or 'F' to exit.

Instant Auto-Resume

If you close your laptop, refresh the browser, or switch devices, TrakCit automatically resumes playback at the exact second you left off. The position is backed up both in local browser storage and in your cloud account.

Smart Watch-Time Tracking

TrakCit tracks unique watched intervals every 1.5 seconds. If you rewind and re-watch a 2-minute segment to understand it better, your position is maintained without artificially inflating your total unique watch-time analytics.

When Does a Lecture Count as Completed?

  • Automatic Completion: When you watch through to the end of the video, the player automatically triggers completion.
  • Manual Toggle: You can also manually click the "Mark as Completed" button under the player if you have already watched the lecture elsewhere.
  • Instant Sync: As soon as a lecture is completed, the parent course percentage and workspace progress update immediately.
Collaboration

Share a Workspace with Friends or Classmates

Organized an exceptional syllabus for your semester exam or competitive exam group? You can share your entire workspace with friends or classmates via a simple share link.

1. Share
Generate Link

Click "Share Workspace" in your workspace header to copy your unique link.

2. Open
Public Preview

The recipient opens the link to see courses, total lectures, and total duration.

3. Login
Quick Sign In

The recipient signs in or creates their free TrakCit account.

4. Import
Independent Copy

Clicking "Import Workspace" creates an isolated personal copy in their account.

Important Note on Workspace Independence:

Sharing a workspace is not live collaborative editing. When your friend imports your workspace, they receive their own fresh copy. Their watch progress, notes, and quiz scores remain completely private and isolated. Nothing they do will alter or overwrite your workspace!

AI Study Tools

AI Summaries & Revision Notes

Ever watched a 45-minute technical lecture and wished you had high-yield study notes ready for exam revision? TrakCit AI extracts the video transcript and runs educational synthesis to generate instant, structured notes.

AI Executive Summary

Gives you a clean 3-minute executive overview of the core themes, major formulas, and fundamental takeaways discussed in the video. Ideal before watching to prime your memory, or right after watching to reinforce retention.

Comprehensive Study Notes

Provides bulleted, categorized revision notes organized by subheadings and key definitions. Designed specifically so you don't have to scramble to pause the video every 30 seconds to scribble notes.

Where to find this: Inside any lecture, click the AI Tools tab beneath or beside the video player, then select Summary or Notes.
Active Comprehension

AI Quizzes & Instant Self-Testing

Passive watching often creates the illusion of competence. TrakCit solves this with Lecture AI Quizzes that test whether you genuinely understood the lecture material.

How Quizzes Work:

1Click the Quiz tab on any lecture page and click Generate Quiz.
2You receive 5 targeted multiple-choice questions grounded directly in what the instructor explained.
3Select your answers and submit. You receive an instant score, detailed rationales for why each answer was correct or incorrect, and topic tags.
4Your quiz performance feeds into your Learning Health Score to flag weak areas that need revision!
Memory Retention

Active Recall Flashcards

Flashcards use active recall, a scientifically proven method where your brain is forced to retrieve information from memory before checking the answer.

Interactive Flashcard Demo (Try Clicking!)Click to flip
QUESTION / FRONT

"What is the time complexity of searching in a balanced Binary Search Tree (BST)?"

👉 Click card to reveal the answer
On each lecture, TrakCit automatically creates a customized deck of 5–10 flashcards that you can flip through before exams.

Analytics

Progress Tracking: 3-Tier Hierarchy

TrakCit tracks your education across three interconnected tiers so you always have granular clarity on your accomplishments:

1

Tier 1: Lecture Progress

Tracks exact resume position, watched seconds, and completion status for every individual video.

2

Tier 2: Course Progress

Calculates completed lectures out of total lectures (e.g. 18 / 24 lectures completed, or 75%).

3

Tier 3: Workspace Progress

Aggregates overall curriculum completion across all subjects in that workspace.

Daily Streaks & Analytics Hub

Visit Progress & Analytics (`/dashboard/progress`) anytime to review your study streaks, total study hours, weekly consistency charts, and recent learning milestones.

Intelligent Feedback

Smart Recommendations & Learning Health

TrakCit AI doesn't just store videos; it actively monitors your study habits and provides personalized feedback to keep you on track.

Learning Health Score (/100)

Combines your study consistency, daily streak, quiz accuracy, and lecture completion rate into an overall score that reflects how well you are staying on top of your subjects.

Weak Topic Identification

When you take AI quizzes and answer certain questions incorrectly, TrakCit automatically tags those concepts (e.g. "Virtual Memory" or "Dynamic Programming") as focus areas for revision.

Time Management

Adaptive Study Planner & Daily Timetable

Struggling to balance multiple subjects? The Study Planner (`/dashboard/planner`) acts as your personal digital academic advisor.

How the Study Planner Works:

  1. Tell TrakCit Your Schedule: Enter how many hours you can study each day (e.g. 2 hours/day) and which days of the week you are active.
  2. Set Target Exam/Completion Date: Specify your target milestone (e.g. final exams in 45 days).
  3. Select Priority Courses: Choose which courses need the most immediate focus.
  4. AI Generates Your Timetable: TrakCit creates a customized daily schedule with specific lectures assigned to each day.
The "Adapt Plan" Superpower

Life happens! If you get busy and miss a few days, or if you study ahead on the weekend, you don't have to throw your plan away. Simply click "Adapt Plan to Progress" and TrakCit will automatically recalculate and re-balance your schedule across the remaining days without any guilt.
